Griswold BOE April 10, 2025 Honoree
At the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, April 10, 2025, Superintendent McKenna and the Board recognized Griswold Middle School music teacher Kailey Shea as the Griswold Forward recipient of the month for her hard work and contributions to moving Griswold Forward.
Kailey Shea is an extremely talented musician and educator who brings tremendous energy, passion, and dedication to her work. She teaches Chorus, Orchestra, and General Music at GMS—a combination that speaks to her exceptional skill and versatility. Her teaching is innovative, her connections with students are deep and meaningful, and she thoughtfully personalizes instruction to support every learner. In General Music, for example, she engages students in creating their own digital compositions, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and a modern understanding of music.
She goes above and beyond every day—holding after-school concerts for each grade level, organizing the GMS Select Chorus that performs at many school functions, and spending countless hours preparing for performances and lessons. She also co-leads the beloved Dinner Theater production with Ms. Richmond, which has become a highlight of the school year.
Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Shea is an integral part of our school culture. She volunteers her time on various committees and, together with our fantastic exploratory team, helps organize engaging in-school events that enrich the student experience and foster a positive school climate.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a passionate, forward-thinking, and talented educator on our team. Congratulations, Kailey!
At the meeting, the Board also officially welcomed new board member Donald Desrochers Jr., who is a parent of two GES students and an active leader in Griswold youth sports. Welcome!
The Griswold BOE deeply values all students, all families, and all employees. The Griswold Board makes it a point to take time at their meetings to recognize the remarkable contributions of outstanding individuals in our community.
