2026/2027 Academic Calendar

In the 2026-27 Griswold Public Schools Board of Education-approved academic calendar (approved December 11, 2025), students will attend school for 180 days. There are 9 Staff Professional Development Days on which students have the day off.

The first day of school for the 2026-27 year is Thursday, August 27, 2026. 

The tentative last day of school (without snow days) is Thursday, June 10, 2027. If additional snow days or other school closures occur, make-up days will be added in this order: June 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17. Should we exceed five snow days by 2/1/27, the Board may consider vacation days/staff development days to be school days. 

GHS Exam Half Days will be January 19, 20, 21, and 22, as well as June 4, 7, 8, and 9, 2027. Please keep in mind that June exam dates could change and will be based on the number of snow days to be made up at the end of the school year.

2026-27 dates of National Holidays, School Vacation days, and Staff Professional Development Days (PD) where students have no school or a shortened day are:

Daily Schedule

Griswold Elementary School

Griswold Elementary School's regular hours are 8:40 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
Delayed Opening begins at 10:40 a.m.
Early Dismissal on Shortened Days is at 1:10 p.m.

Griswold Middle & High Schools

Griswold Middle School, High School, and Soule Street Academy hours are 7:30 a.m. - 2:19 p.m.
Delayed Opening begins at 9:30 a.m.
Early Dismissal on Shortened Days is at 12:00 p.m.

 

School Closings

Griswold Public Schools distributes alerts about school closures, delays and early dismissals to parents/guardians of students enrolled in GPS (email notifications through Infinite Campus and the School Messenger Notify automated phone service). Families, students, and staff should pay close attention on questionable days for these messages and community broadcasts. 

In the event of inclement weather or other school closure, the following stations will broadcast school closing/delay notices:

Some of these stations have a SMS Text Message subscription service, where you can be notified about school closures via text.

Whenever possible, the Superintendent will choose a DELAYED OPENING rather than a cancellation.

GHS Students from Sending Towns:

For Griswold High School students from sending towns, we advise signing up for School Closure Alerts for your child’s home district and Griswold Public Schools. If your child's home district is closed, your child will not have access to bus transportation and may require alternative transportation to GHS, if it remains open.

Griswold Students Attending other High Schools

For students from Griswold attending other high schools (tech, VOAG, magnet schools, etc.), sign up for School Closure Alerts for your child’s school and Griswold Public Schools. If GPS is closed, your child will not have access to bus transportation, even if their school remains open.
