A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the GMS Cafeteria.

February 12, 2026
The Board of Education adopted a budget at their regular meeting on February 12th, 2026. In moving to adopt this budget, the Board has forwarded the budget to the Town of Griswold, Board of Finance, for review and feedback. The Griswold Board of Education is slated to present to the Town of Griswold, Board of Finance, on February 24th, 2026, at 6:00 pm, at the Griswold Senior Center. 

March 11th, 2026
The Griswold Board of Education will present their adopted budget to the Town of Griswold, Board of Finance. This meeting, scheduled for 6:00 pm, will be held at Town Hall.

April 20th, 2026
The Griswold Board of Education held a Special Meeting to review and discuss what "proposed cuts" to the budget would look like based on the feedback from the Town of Griswold, Board of Finance (BOF). The BOF had initially cut the Board of Education budget by $900,000. The Superintendent reviewed with the Board a possible pathway to achieve that reduction. To review the document that was presented, please click on the link in the next column. NOTE:  This was not finalized. Rather, this document presents proposed cuts to achieve the $900,000 reduction. The Board of Education, once the budget process has been finalized, will have to vote and decide on all cuts/reductions.

April 28th, 2026
The Griswold Board of Finance will hold its annual Public Hearing on the budgets for the Griswold Board of Education and for the Town of Griswold. This Public Hearing allows residents to speak on the proposal budgets before the next steps, which include a Town Meeting and a Referendum Vote. The Public Hearing will be held at Griswold Middle School at 6:00 pm at the Griswold Middle School cafeteria.

May 7th, 2026
The Town of Griswold, Board of Finance (BOF), hosted a Special Meeting to make final adjustments to the town budget and BOE budgets based on newly approved state aid. The BOF decided to use this state aid to lower the proposed mil rate, thereby making no changes to the BOE budget including the reduction.

May 20th, 2026--Town Meeting
The Town of Griswold will host their scheduled Town Meeting on the proposed budgets. Typically, this meeting is held at Town Hall on Main Street in Jewett City.

May 26h, 2026--Special Meeting of the Board of Education 
The Griswold Board of Education scheduled a special meeting to review another possible pathway to achieve the cut of $900,000 from the budget.

This is the scheduled date of the Town Referendum, where Griswold taxpayers can vote on the proposed budgets.
